Does Tesla actually score well on ESG?
It depends which pillar you look at. In Atmos’s curated profile for TSLA, the environmental estimate is materially stronger than social and governance. That is an in-app estimate, not a licensed agency rating, and not a recommendation to buy or sell Tesla.
| Pillar | Atmos curated estimate (0–100) |
|---|---|
| Environmental | 78 |
| Social | 54 |
| Governance | 62 |
| Simple average (how Atmos stores a fast composite for curated names) | 65 |
| Letter band on that average | A (55–69) |

In-app composites can also apply sector weights and a completeness penalty, so the number on a watchlist may not match this simple average exactly. Other vendors will disagree — often sharply — on Tesla.
What this is useful for
Tesla is a lightning-rod ticker: climate product on one side, labour and governance arguments on the other. A single “ESG score” hides that split. The Atmos profile is built to show the split. If your own book is heavy TSLA, the composite will lean on those weaker S and G estimates unless you change pillar weights in Settings.
What this is not
- Not MSCI, Sustainalytics, or Tesla’s own disclosures reproduced in full
- Not a claim that Tesla is or is not a “sustainable investment”
- Not a forecast of returns or volatility
- Not personalised advice
Add TSLA to an Atmos watchlist, or import a broker screenshot that contains it, to see the same labelled estimate beside your other holdings. Energy names in the same table are the opposite shape — Exxon, Shell. Or compare Apple vs Microsoft.
